UPDATE: The special convention has been rescheduled to Jan. 10, 2015 at the King Mediation Center at 11 King Street, Augusta. The deadline to submit amendments to the bylaws was extended to Dec. 10.
At our last convention on June 14, party members voted to hold a special convention at a later date for the purpose of considering changes to party bylaws and strategize the future of our party. We are pleased to announce a winter assembly will be held, serving as the special convention for these purposes on Jan. 10 at the King Mediation Center, 11 King St., Augusta, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
We invite you to attend the convention, or submit proposed amendments to the bylaws. Any registered Green Independent or local group of the party may submit proposals by emailing the suggested changes to firstname.lastname@example.org by Dec. 10. Proposals submitted in advance will get first consideration for approval; proposals submitted on the convention floor will be considered afterwards as time allows.
We are excited about our party's future; we had a great slate of candidates running for local offices across the state this year. We will get a chance to hear from some of these candidates to help recap this year's election.
If your local group submits proposals, please designate a delegate to represent the proposals on the convention floor on behalf of the group. If you do not have a local group and would like help starting one, please contact our caucus organizer at email@example.com.
Have an idea for a bylaws change, but not sure how to word it? Feel free to send it along to firstname.lastname@example.org and the (winter) assembly committee will work with you to craft language that matches the spirit of your idea.
We all want to build the party and help it to grow. This convention will be an opportunity to discuss the best ways to do so. Discussions about future referendum drives, our platform and a two-year plan being proposed by the steering committee will also take place.
Most importantly, this is a chance to meet other Green Independents from around the state working to implement our ten key values in public policy, just like you are.
All enrolled Green Independents are welcome to attend and participate. Nobody will be denied at the door, but we ask for a suggested $10 donation to cover party expenses associated with the convention. To register for the Jan. 10 winter assembly, please visit:

The event will be a potluck. Please contact Jacqui Deveneau at firstname.lastname@example.org or 284-3358 to coordinate what foods to bring. We are asking attendees to bring either salads, appetizers, breads or desserts.
We look forward to seeing you there and discussing each other's ideas for improving our party!
