Keynote speaker James Evans Muhammad is the national minister of education for the Black Power Movement, former national minister of education for the New Black Panther Party, was representative of the Trayvon Martin family during the time directly after the youngster’s death and organized at Ferguson with the NBPP, the African American Defense League and Black Lawyers for Justice. He is also UMaine and USM alum, former vice president of Portland NAACP and FRUIT OF ISLAM.
Guest speaker Joseph Jackson is the coordinator at Maine Prisoner Advocacy Coalition, a former prison inmate and a graduate student at USM’s Stonecoast MFA in writing program.
